Report from Alan Gill
Shelbourne 2–0 Waterloo: Quarter-Final Spot Secured
We kept our Junior Shield run alive with a huge 2–0 win away to Waterloo, extending an impressive run to the last eight of the competition.
We got off to the perfect start when Ger Johnson picked out Dan Collins at the back post, with Dan finishing calmly inside the opening ten minutes. The game stayed in the balance for much of the first half, with Waterloo having spells of pressure, but our defence stood strong.
The second goal came with 25 minutes remaining, as Alan Carr’s free kick from halfway caused problems and slipped through the goalkeeper’s hands into the net, sealing the win.
We now move on to the quarter-finals, where we’ll face either Carrigaline or Peak Villa.
Three of our youngest lads — James Doherty, Adam McGlynn, and Dan Collins — were absolutely outstanding today, leaving absolutely everything on the pitch.
Thanks to Waterloo AFC for the hospitality after the game, it was much appreciated, and best of luck with the rest of their season.
